Technology plays an increasingly important role in our daily lives. Business school students need to be aware of the tech skills that employers expect these days and need to build abilities that support their career path.

Expectations in the technology field can be narrowed down to a set of only five skills, every business student should possess, according to a recent article on TopMBA, a QS platform, the organisation behind the world's biggest MBA tour.

1.    Excel

Being able to build spreadsheets is a very useful task. Learn how to create spreadsheets but also how to use the formulas function.

2.    Coding

Learning some basic HTML and CSS coding can help tremendously for building and understanding websites.

3.    Wireframing

Wireframing is another useful skill as understanding how apps and websites are designed helps for the communication in teams and when explaining how applications should work and what they should look like.

4.    Design

“Having a good graphic design sense can mean the difference between success and failure for a company,” according to TopMBA.com. It is essential for students to have a solid understanding of graphic design – how to work images, colors, and typefaces.

5.    Communication

Communication is essential everywhere but apart from email etiquette it is also important these days to know how to operate social media.

These skills won’t be tested but having them will make transitioning from university to a corporate career much smoother and less stressful.
