How does the US News ranking compare to the QS and FT rankings?

It is not easy, and not always helpful, to compare the rankings by the Financial Times, QS and that from US News, since the latter only looks at American business schools. But five US-schools do well in all these rankings which certainly deserves some credit.

It is not easy, and not always helpful, to compare the rankings by the Financial Times, QS and that from US News, since the latter only looks at American business schools. But five US-schools do well in all these rankings which certainly deserves some credit.

Earlier this year when the Financial Times (FT) published its 2018 MBA ranking, Stanford Graduate School of Business came out at the top due to the impressive salary boost by its graduates, which was up nearly 20,000 dollars to 214,000 dollars. Third place was taken by the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton, whilst Harvard Business School dropped to fifth place. The places in between were taken by European business schools.

In comparison, QS ranked Harvard first and Stanford fourth with Insead and HEC Paris in between. The US News also placed Harvard first but in a shared place with Chicago Booth, a school which ranked in 12th place in the QS ranking and sixth in the FT ranking. Wharton followed on third place and Stanford came fourth.

The US-schools that did well in all these rankings and scored spots in the top ten were:

Harvard Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business, the University of Pennsylvania Wharton, The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and the MIT Sloan School of Management.
